Fortitude is a series of images of impromptu driftwood beach huts along the Pacific Coast. The erosion of driftwood from both found and natural materials possesses a sense of familiarity and security; offset by the precarious construction of the structures and the deterioration of the beach reflecting on what is considered natural in an increasingly mediated world. The Long Goodbye is a series of images taken while traveling back and forth to NYC to be with my family for my father’s 92nd birthday, film screening, illness, and funeral. I learned to film the hard stuff and say what I mean from him.
