Danielle Shi "Haptic"

from $68.95
Chinese American artist Danielle Shi’s work narrates the intersection of poetic creation and image in what she calls “light-poems". Her project Suburban Delusions features a series of photographs—"Haptic", "Coy", and "Democracy"—about the cocoon-like nature of Asian American suburban lifestyles, their illusions of sheltered insularity. Shi grew up between Orange County, California and China, studying at the University of California, Berkeley and at the University of Chicago with W.J.T. Mitchell. Coming from a background in English, she incorporates philosophies of authorship in her practice, while examining how these influence her theme of kinship. Her latest foray into videography navigates forms of ordinariness in personal media. Her work can be found at danielleshi.com. This image is available for the following products: Framed Prints, and Giclee Fine Art Prints
